Is Lifeboost Coffee a Scam or a Real Boost?

What is the Alleged Boost?

What could possibly boost this coffee above all others? Has Lifeboost found a miracle additive that gives its coffee some amazing new qualities?

If you’re skeptical about “superlative coffees,” you deserve to be commended. Claims such as the ones that Lifeboost makes need to be put to the test. I will be doing just that by evaluating what they and others say to reach a final verdict.

Before I proceed, I need to answer the question above. The alleged boost (that I will be evaluating) is that this coffee is “as healthy as coffee can possibly be.”

Disclosure statement: I may earn a commission from qualified sales.

Did you know that coffee can be toxic and do more harm than good? If the answer is no, then you’ll want to read on. After all, if all coffee is very healthy then the Lifeboost’s claim of coffee that’s “as healthy as it gets” would just fall flat on its face.

What are the facts (Is Coffee Generally Healthy)?

This is another excellent question. There are plenty of facts to support the claim that for a fair share of coffee companies worldwide, producing healthy coffee is not a priority. The coffee is neither cultivated, harvested, nor processed with coffee drinkers’ best interests in mind.

Below are some key facts explaining the ways many coffee companies fail to ensure that their coffee is beneficial to coffee drinkers’ health.

Inadequate Locations Are Where The Problems Begin

Who would’ve thought that where coffee is grown could make such a big difference? First, if the soil is not adequate then the land must be “enriched” with fertilizer. Sure, the land will be more fertile. Yet it will also become contaminated with chemicals (chemicals that the coffee will absorb).

To make matters worse, the ecosystem may not be suitable for growing coffee. This means that pests can wreak havoc on the coffee, unless pesticides are used. Given these two options, the coffee companies will choose to douse the crops with pesticides.

Moldy Coffee Isn’t Just Gross

Now we know that when companies don’t choose adequate locations to grow coffee, we’re going to end up with coffee that’s contaminated with chemicals. That’s what we get when the coffee beans are harvested.

If the coffee beans are processed carelessly after they are harvested, they can end up with a particular type of mold that’s very harmful. It’s bad enough that anything with mold growing on it is gross, but it gets far worse than just that.

There is a particular type of mold that likes to make coffee its home. This mold is known as a mycotoxin, and it can lead to some very serious health problems. At its worst, it can lead to fatal conditions. Cancer is likely the worst among these.

When They Mix it Up, They Can Mess It Up

Coffee companies that aren’t into producing high quality coffee will typically blend a variety of coffee beans together. Consumers might end up with a mystery mix of chemically contaminated and dangerously moldy coffee.

Robusta coffee beans are more robust, as the name implies. They’re preferred because they are less expensive and because they don’t require as much care. Coffee companies can claim to use Arabica coffee beans and get away with implying that they use Arabica only.

The reality is that they may be mixing both Arabica and Robusta.  Mixing various types of coffee beans together can alter the chemical balance of the coffee, which can cause health problems.  High acidity levels in the stomach can lead to stomach pain and heartburn (acid reflux), among other things.

While occasional acid reflux can cause a great deal of discomfort and pain, if persists it can become far more problematic. Chronic acid reflux can lead to serious medical problems such as cancer in the esophagus (the part of the body through which food passes from the throat to the stomach).

Testimonials from reputable professionals who endorse Lifeboost coffee

Is Lifeboost Boosting or Boasting?

This question is probably best answered by those who are coffee experts and nutrition experts. I’ll evaluate what the experts say separately, then summarize the findings in the final section.

What the Coffee Experts Say

This is pretty straightforward. Coffee experts don’t dispute anything about the quality of Lifeboost coffee. The locations where the coffee beans are grown are carefully selected. These locations provide ideal soil and habitats for growing nutrient rich and chemical free coffee beans.

Only one type of Arabica coffee bean is used, and it happens to among the top 2% grown worldwide. Once the coffee beans are harvested, a very meticulous process is followed that prevents mycotoxins from contaminating the coffee.
Lifeboost passes third party quality control testing for hundreds of contaminants. It is properly certified as organic by the US Department of Agriculture.
Coffee experts collectively conclude that Lifeboost is, in fact, in the top tier in terms of quality. It would be hard to find a higher quality coffee than Lifeboost.

Dr. Z. thorough technical review and validation of Lifeboost coffee claims

What the Nutrition Experts Say

This part, while not quite as objective as the one above, is not much more difficult to assess. The first expert perspective I’ll be looking at is that of a Chiropractic Physician who has devoted thousands of hours to research. That research happens to be specifically devoted to nutrition.

Dr. Charles Livingston
Conveniently, this expert is also the co-founder and CEO of Lifeboost. Dr. Livingston appears to be highly qualified to boldly proclaim that there is no healthier coffee than Lifeboost.

That doesn’t settle the matter in my mind, though. I would prefer to see a consensus among a number independent peers that corroborates Dr. Livingston’s claim. I devoted a considerable amount of time to looking for independent reviews from other nutrition experts. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find very many.

While the sample size isn’t huge, I’m sufficiently satisfied with the independent reviews that are available. I want to provide and example that I considered particularly useful.

Dr. Eric Zielinski
I’ll be using an article written by Doctor of Chiropractic Zielinski (also known as Dr. Z) as an example of the accounts of other nutritional experts who have corroborated Dr. Livingston’s claims. Dr. Z has a similar research background (he specializes in public health research).

Dr. Z’s article goes far beyond the things I have mentioned. He also meticulously documents the publications he used as references right below his article.  The article thoroughly substantiates the health and nutrition information provided by Dr. Livingston.  To view Dr. Z’s article, click here: Dr. Z’s Lifeboost Coffee Review.

Is Lifeboost Coffee Truly the Healthiest Coffee?

There is no question that the quality of Lifeboost Coffee is exceptional. It is also evident that it is extremely healthy coffee. In all fairness, I cannot dispute Dr. Livingstons’s claim that this is the healthiest coffee there is.

Ultimately, I believe the best evidence you can have is the feedback your body will give you. In my opinion, this is a coffee that everyone who is willing to pay a bit extra should try.

Recommended Place to Buy

My recommendation is to buy directly from the Lifeboost Coffee website.  There are a number of ways to save buying directly from them.  For example, they have a subscribe & save program and various bulk discounts.

Lifeboost offers 15% percent off (BOOST15) on orders over $50 (for orders not exceeding $100) and $20 off (BOOST20) on orders of $100 or more.

Throughout the year, Lifeboost offers seasonal discounts.  Currently, there is a 20% off (JULY20) 4th of July promotion that lasts until August 4, 2022.

  1. Wow. kudos to lifeboost for making such a healthy coffee. So much measures taken to ensure that it comes to be the most healthiest coffee. From reading all these, obviously, lifeboost coffee is not a scam and it would be great to give it a try. Thanks for this in-depth review.

  2. I am not a regular coffee drinker, but I tried the Lifeboost new customer offer to save money on some healthy coffee. My husband drinks several cups a day so I thought it would be good for him. When I tried it, I noticed a definite difference in the taste from the organic beans we usually get from Costco, and really liked the flavor of both their flavored and unflavored coffees. It’s a little too expensive for my budget, but I will definitely be purchasing it again, although not on a regular basis.

    • Thank you for your comment, Patti. I’m happy to hear that you are pleased with the quality and taste of Lifeboost Coffee. I agree across the board with your perspective. The price is certainly relatively high compared to the price of regular coffee, though I still think it’s a fair price given Lifeboost’s quality and health benefits.

  3. Although I am not a coffee drinker (it gives me the shakes), my husband and the rest of the family, loves coffee, so I am always on the look-out for the best coffee for the coffee lovers in the family. I have never really considered the possibility that producers might mix Robusta beans with Arabico. So is there a way to tell if beans have been mixed?

I like the fact that you say Lifeboost is certified organic coffee, but do they have their certification online that I can look at it? Thanks for sharing.

    • Thank you for your comment, Line.  The best bet for getting 100% Arabica coffee is to check the package, because most of the brands that supply it proudly display that on the coffee bags.

When companies are certified organic, they are required to keep some very meticulous records.  Lifeboost will gladly provide evidence of their organic certification upon request.  Send them a message using their website contact form, and you should receive a reply pretty quickly.

  4. You can find any type of review about the effects of coffee. Some will claim that coffee in any form is bad for you while others will say just the opposite. After reading your review, I believe the lengths they go to for the growing, harvesting and distribution, of Lifeboost coffee would be that it is a company with high ethical expectations that should satisfy any coffee drinker that this coffee is one that you can believe in.

  5. I found this lifeboost coffee article fascinating. The claims for this coffee type- high quality, grown in right soil and doesn’t need to use fertilizer and pesticides during its growth. The processing is high quality and the powder are free of mold producing mycotoxin causing cancer. However, acrylamide can be a potential cancer causing contaminant to look for if they haven’t already tested for it.

It is all good to support our morning drink.

The test of a chemical free heathy dose of coffee is worth tasting. I will try checking it out.

    • Lifeboost is tested for many different possible contaminants, and the testing is through an independent lab.  They make some pretty bold claims, but it’s definitely all backed up by the evidence.

I think you’ll love it when you try it, Anusuya. What I like the best is that it’s really gentle on the stomach.  It’s a definite plus because most other coffees I have tried give me a burning sensation.

    • I’m happy to hear that the information about Lifeboost has been helpful, Bojana.  There are a lot of potential contaminants in coffee, so it’s preferable to buy coffee from a company that has its coffee tested by independent labs.  There’s no better way to guarantee having the healthiest possible coffee.

Wow.. after going through the review I can definitely say that this can be one of the healthiest coffee in the market.

Due to this covid situation, the whole world is in a habit of WFH system due to which people are facing many health issues.  The same is happening with me, therefore I started giving more priority to my health like daily exercising, going for walks, eating healthy food, etc. After reading the review and going through their website as well I am pretty much assured that this is a pretty healthy product as compared to any other coffee available in the market. Thank you for this informative review, I will definitely give it a try and see the results myself.

  9. Thank you for your answer to the question featured in your post. I was compelled to add my answer to this question to inspire a debate on this controversial topic. I hope you like it!

We are all unique individuals, yet only 0.025% of our DNA is responsible for our individuality…however, enough to have a wide range of responses to coffee, as many people there are on the planet. This is a scientific fact (trusted source: NIH publication) about caffeine demonstrated by research.

Some people swear by coffee as a life-saver, while others find that it makes them feel jittery and anxious. Does this mean that coffee is a scam for some and a real boost for others?

My choice, though, is no- there is no one “right” answer to this question. Coffee affects everyone differently because of the way our bodies process caffeine. Some people metabolize caffeine very quickly, while others process it more slowly. This is why you might be able to drink coffee all day without feeling any adverse effects, while your friend might feel jittery after just one cup.

Coffee also contains hundreds of compounds that can impact the way our bodies respond to it. Some of these compounds might have positive effects, while others might be negative. So, coffee may be both a scam and a real boost, depending on the person drinking it.

The bottom line is that one should experiment with coffee and see how it affects you (or find out what your genetics have to say). If you find that it makes you feel good, then there’s no reason to stop drinking it. However, if you find that it makes you feel anxious or jittery, you might want to cut back or stop drinking it altogether. Everyone’s experience with coffee is different, so there’s no “right” answer to the question of whether or not it’s a real boost. Ultimately, you’ll have to decide for yourself.

    • Thank you for your message, Dr. Gala.  Excellent take on this, and just as with my article I can’t find any basis to dispute your statements.  I completely agree that people should come to their own conclusions based on the feedback they get from their bodies.

In my opinion, Lifeboost is worth trying.  The real question is whether it will end up being a keeper.  That’s up to each individual to decide.

  10. After reading all these review and the process that is used making your coffee, I would very much like to try it. I do have one question. Is this a low acidic coffee. I have been experiencing burning in my stomach lately after I drink coffee. Would appreciate information on this before I purchase. Thank you.

    • Hello, Nancy. Thank you for your message. Lifeboost is indeed a low acid coffee, and I can tell you from personal experience that it is very easy on the stomach. I am prone to acid reflux, and coffee in general aggravates the condition. I can drink low acid coffee with no problems, though. After I switched to Lifeboost, I noticed a huge difference. I still have my occasional reflux flareups, but definitely not due to drinking coffee.

Also, Lifeboost’s customer service is second to none. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the purchase, they offer hassle free refunds.

  11. Thank you for this article I didn’t know how coffee was made and produced. I didn’t know about the coffee scams and that coffee can cause more harm then good. I drink coffee just about everyday and I will probably be changing coffee brands.

I also have a problem with acid, I get heartburn all the time. I didn’t think that the coffee was the cause. I do remember the some days when I don’t drink coffee that my heartburn isn’t so bad. I always figured it was from what I ate the night before or what I ate in the morning.

    Thank you!

Coffee can be good for us in a number of ways, and especially if we are selective about the coffee we drink.  I’m glad that I decided to give Lifeboost a try, because it’s really gentle on the stomach.

For those of us who are prone to bouts of acid reflux, drinking low acid coffee is definitely the way to go.

  13. I’m happy to hear that at least the quality of Lifeboost Coffee is legit. However, all the extra hyped-up and toothless marketing claims make me skeptical about buying the coffee.

I used to enjoy blending a “bulletproof” style coffee in the morning (with butter and coconut oil). I have been buying good quality coffee for years (sometimes roasting beans at home), but couldn’t see any value in paying extra for the “Bulletproof” brand (which made a lot of the same claims as Lifeboost).

    • Thank you for your comment, Aly.  Lifeboost does make some pretty bold claims, which is why I decided to look into them in detail.

The one that I was most skeptical about was regarding the taste, until I tried 8 of their varieties (I ordered one of their samplers).  I was thoroughly impressed by the taste.  It’s definitely on my shortlist of best tasting coffees.

I have also tried quite a few different low acid brands, and the most gentle on my stomach has been Lifeboost.  The rest of the claims are mainly objective, and they are all substantiated (Lifeboost is very open about sharing their data).

  14. Great article and very helpful. Thank you! My husband drinks a lot of coffee and while it doesn’t seem to affect him adversely (according to him), I notice he has some stomach upset after drinking a number of cups in a day. I love coffee, but drink it sparingly. Brewed coffee gives me a headache so I drink only espresso which doesn’t bother me, but I have suffered from serious symptoms caused by mold sickness. Lately, I’ve noticed that some coffee causes a flare up in my symptoms – I wonder if it’s from potential mold in most coffee. I wondered about the claims made by Lifeboost and another brand. Thank you for setting my mind at ease about the quality of this one.

  15. I just received my first 6 bags of the Light Roast. Enjoying a cup right now. I have tried other healthy coffees (high elevation grown) and I can taste the difference from store bought. It’s worth spending the couple extra dollars. Store bought was making my stomach burn and the Lifeboost is so clean tasting that it doesn’t bother my stomach at all. Plus the 12 ounce bags were actually 12 ounces and filled to the top, unlike everything else that is sold today. Thank you Lifeboost…
